OCR GCSE Citizenship Studies – Paper 3: Our Rights, Our Society, Our World (J270/03) – 2025

This paper assesses students’ understanding of rights, freedoms, and responsibilities in the UK and the wider world, as set out in the OCR GCSE Citizenship Studies (9–1) specification. It focuses on how citizens, communities, and governments interact at local, national, and global levels.

Paper 3 covers three key themes:

  • Our rights – human rights, equalities, freedoms, the role of law, and how rights are protected in the UK and internationally

  • Our society – identity, diversity, community cohesion, migration, the media, and active participation in society

  • Our world – global citizenship, international organisations, conflict, peace, and the UK’s role in the world

The exam requires students to apply knowledge to real-life scenarios and contemporary issues, analyse sources, evaluate different viewpoints, and justify opinions. Question types include short-answer questions, source-based questions, and extended evaluative responses.

This paper tests students’ ability to:

  • Use citizenship terminology accurately

  • Analyse and evaluate social and political issues

  • Interpret sources and evidence

  • Communicate well-reasoned arguments clearly

This resource is ideal for exam revision, classroom teaching, mock exams, and independent study, helping students develop confident exam technique and strong evaluative skills.
